Sergio Garcia made some statements this weekend that are completely unprecedented but, not much of a surprise.
That’s the reality. I’m not good enough and today I know it. I’ve been trying for 13 years and I don’t feel capable of winning,” Garcia said. “I don’t know what happened to me. Maybe it’s something psychological. … After 13 years, my chances are over. I’m not good enough for the majors. That’s it.
Just about a month ago, I had written about Sergio’s lack of mental toughness.
I can’t remember a time in history that any professional athlete has quit on his career, on his craft or on himself, quite like Sergio did after his round Saturday at Augusta.
The fact is that Sergio is talented enough to win a Major but sometimes talent isn’t everything.
Can you imagine what Seve Ballesteros would think of these self defeating comments?
Pretty pathetic, Sergio, pretty pathetic.
