Andrew “Chubby” Chandler is on quite a roll.
Chubby Chandler has been showing up all over the place lately and don’t expect his face to go away anytime soon. Chubby is the Managing Director and Founder of International Sports Management and he’s “chubbing” all the way to the bank with 2 of the last 3 major champions in the fold.
He manages Louis Ooosthuizen the reigning British Open Champion and he also manages Charl Schwartzel the now reigning Masters Champion.
Not only does he dominate in the “funny named client” category but he also manages a number of well known names you can pronounce without difficulty.
Lee Westwood, Darren Clarke, Ernie Els and Rory McIlroy. As if that weren’t enough he also manages David Howell, Simon Dyson, David Horsey, Christina Kim and Chris Wood.

As mentioned I see this guy everywhere; so, I decided I would take a closer look to see what he’s all about. Honestly, he looks like an agent. Not the Jerry McGuire type agent, more like the mafia type agent, do you know what I mean? He’s always got his shirt all unbuttoned, kind of like Tony Soprano? Maybe that’s why I have a skewed opinion of him?
Or it could be that he piled on Tiger hard last year when it was popular to do so. As you may know I’m a massive Tiger supporter and I won’t ever change. Mainly for the paradigm shift he gave to us in terms of golf’s popularity. But I digress.
Chubby Chandler founded ISM out of a small office in 1989 after a 15 year career as a Player on the European Tour. He was known around the tour as a player who knew where to get all the deals on hotels and flights. This thrifty knack gave him a reputation as the go to guy for all things more affordable out there on the then very poor Euro Tour.
Chandler started the company with only 4 fringe players on the tour and has grown to represent athletes form all over the world in golf, soccer, sorry football, cricket and Olympic swimming.
My view of this guy as “less than reputable” is completely unfounded and completely joking in reality. I find it highly unlikely that Ernie Els, Darren Clarke and Lee Westwood would have anything to do with the guy if he wasn’t a stand-up person, but again, this is an assumption.
By my estimation it appears as though Chubby’s firm ISM finished T11 at this year’s Masters. What do I mean? From what I can see he walked out of Augusta with roughly $178,000 in management income which would be almost exactly like finishing Tied for 11th place.
Not a bad weekend for the ISM Founder.
I’ll bet Chubby Chandler’s a pretty fun guy to hang out with. He sure has an amazing eye for talent, no not really but, the talent has an eye for him, this is for sure.
